This Japanese furoshiki wrapping cloth was designed by origami artist duo "Cochae." The impression changes depending on whether the okame (female) or hyottoko (male) mask appears at the front. These comical masks are traditionally used in kagura, a sacred Shinto performance of music and dance dedicated to the gods. They are also believed to have the power to ward off evil.
The size of 48 cm (18.9 in) is suitable for wrapping small items or bento boxes. The moderate unevenness of the surface gives it more texture than a flat fabric and makes it easier to wrap. The more you use this cotton material, the softer and gentler the texture becomes.
With this unique Japanese motifs and bright design, it is recommended for everyday use as well as for gift-giving.
